About Dontdoit

The story of building tools that actually work

I'm Vladislav Kim, and I run Dontdoit Club - a consulting studio and product lab based in Montréal.

We build apps for ourselves, and we build custom systems for clients who need something that doesn't exist yet.

This is how we got here.

It started with a messy browser

A few years ago, I was doing what most developers do: helping clients ship websites, set up automations, and solve technical problems they didn't have time to figure out themselves.

The work was good. The projects kept coming.

But my own life? Complete chaos.

I had 47 browser tabs open at all times. Three different to-do apps that never synced. Sticky notes on my desk with half-finished ideas. A "later" folder that kept growing but never shrinking.

Every productivity app I tried promised to fix everything. Most just gave me one more place to feel behind.

So I did what any developer would do when they're fed up: I started building my own tools.

From side scripts to a real company

It started small. A tiny dashboard to track my actual work hours. A script to auto-organize my tasks. Workflows that felt obvious instead of exhausting.

They worked.

Then friends started asking: "Wait, can you build one of those for me?"

Then clients: "We need something like that but for our team."

That's when I realized there was a real gap. People needed tools that respected how they actually work, not how some productivity guru thought they should.

So in 2024, I turned this into Dontdoit Inc. - a proper company with a clear mission:

Make technology easier to use, harder to ignore, and actually helpful in everyday work.

What we do now

We split our time between two tracks:

1. Building our own apps

Right now, that's Mmodoro - a gamified productivity tracker that treats focus like an RPG skill tree.

You track your work sessions. You gain XP. You level up attributes like Focus, Planning, and Execution.

No fluff. Just clean design, visible progress, and a system that rewards consistency.

It's built with modern web tech, works offline first, and syncs when you're ready. It's for people who like progress bars and hate bloat.

2. Consulting for clients who need custom-built systems

This is the other half of Dontdoit.

We work with founders, teams, and small businesses who need:

  • A new web app built from scratch
  • Smarter ecommerce setups (we specialize in headless commerce and WooCommerce)
  • Custom automations that save hours every week
  • Technical strategy that actually makes sense

We're not interested in adding features for the sake of features. We care about solving real problems with clean code and systems that last.

Who this is for

If you write code: I share habits, patterns, and workflows that make projects less painful and more sustainable.

If you don't code (yet): I explain how tech actually works - from "what is an API?" to "how do I automate this boring task?" - in ways that feel accessible, not overwhelming.

If you run a business: We can build the tool you need but can't find, or improve the systems you already have so they actually work the way you want.

The philosophy behind everything

Here's what I believe:

Technology should feel obvious, not exclusive. Most people are locked out of understanding how modern tools work. That's a design problem, not a people problem.

Habits beat tools every time. The best app in the world won't save you if your routines are broken. We build systems that make good habits easier to stick to.

Small wins compound faster than big plans. Ship small pieces often. Track your time honestly. Name things clearly. Protect your focus. These tiny actions add up.

Real problems deserve real solutions. We're not chasing trends or hype. We're building tools and systems that solve actual friction in your day-to-day work.

What's next

More apps that respect your attention instead of stealing it.

More guides that make tech feel learnable instead of intimidating.

More systems you can copy, adapt, and make your own.

Work with us

If you need help building a custom app, improving your tech stack, or automating workflows that are eating your time, let's talk.

We work best with clients who value clarity, care about craft, and want to build things that last.

If you want early access to new tools and bite-sized explainers on how technology actually works, drop your email and I'll send you the good stuff first.
